Main Street programs in Pinal County honored

The Florence Main Street Program won its share of honors in the recent Arizona Main Street Awards, and board member Gary Pranzo was runner-up for Arizona Main Street Individual of the Year. The local program won first-place awards for "Best Large Scale Renovation Project" (Brunenkant Bakery building) and "Best Promotional Material" (program Web site).

The Florence and Casa Grande programs also received national Main Street accreditation, along with Pinetop-Lakeside, Nogales and Sedona. Casa Grande won several awards, including first places for "Small Scale Project" (The Alley) and "Medium Scale Project" (Cook E Jar). The Casa Grande program received finalist awards for "Economic Restructuring Project" (Palo Verde Plaza); "Business Excellence" (Old Town Custom Framing & Gifts); "Promotional Materials" (video montage); and "Special Event" (Historic Downtown Street Fair). Apache Junction won for "Public/Private Partnership" (Phelps Drive Project.) In all, Pinal County programs took home 10 of the 23 awards presented statewide.
